Minor Suits Deck Titles - Addition/Diamond/Coin and Subtraction/Club/Stave

I cannot stress enough, the importance of combining the qualities put forth in each Minor Suit card with each Major Trump card. They are, after all, one in the same! At least in the All Things Are Numbers world of tarot! (see the essay Evolution of a Deck Design: The Matrix elsewhere on this site).

The decks being presented on this site use an invented grammatical term called a Coronym to suggest a correlative relationship between the different suits of the Minor Suit cards (see the essay The Importance of Words elsewhere on this site). A correlative relationship is said to exist between cards that describe literal things and events vs. the mental, emotional equivalent we have of those things, and frequently use as analogy and metaphor. In the correlative relationship between suits, Addition/Diamond/Coin and Subtraction/Club/Stave represent the Quantitative, Tangible, Particle Nature of Things, while Multiplication/Heart/Cup and Division/Spade/Sword represent the Qualitative, Intangible, Wave Nature of Things. Thus we see a correlative relationship between the suits of Addition/Diamond/Coin and Multiplication/Heart/Cup... and another between Subtraction/Club/Stave and Division/Spade/Sword.

Of course, the limitations of the English language, and the inherent ambiguity and infinite subjectivity of tarot semantics makes it difficult at times to completely and accurately convey the important, critical relationship of a Coronym. But it's there. It's part of the design of the decks being presented elsewhere on this site, whether I've been able to find and use unequivocal, clear and concise language to describe it or not. The pattern is there. These Name and Title pages are my best attempt to "clothe" this correlative relationship between suits with language. If anyone out there is able to see the correlative, quantitative/qualitative relationship between suits that I am suggesting here, and can think of more accurate language to describe it, then by all means speak up!

There are plenty of tarot decks that attempt to define what each Minor card is about, i.e. what it means. In examining the Minor Suits, we find a multitude of pigeon holes, just waiting to be associated with a concept of humanity. In approaching this goal, we also find no shortage of "concepts of humanity" just waiting to be brought out and illustrated on a card. It's a perfect marriage of convenience! But, I believe The Numerical Tarot is unique in the way it arranges "concepts of humanity" into cohesive SETS of ideas that spen a spectrum of extremes and inbetweens (see the essay A Spectrum of Possibilities elsewhere on this site). The Numerical Tarot is unique in the way it follows a universal signature of nature across each suit (see A Significant Signature of Nature elsewhere on this site). The Numerical Tarot is unique in the way it suggests an etymological path for each concept, back to a more abstract, fundamental, archetypal, primordial force of nature (see Numerical Etymology elsewhere on this site). Of course, there will always be more "concepts of humanity" than there are cards in a tarot deck. Because of this, some people choose to invent new kinds of decks, with more cards, for more concepts. But it's never enough, really. Thus, as stated in the Major Trumps page, what follows is just one possible outcome to a process of analysis that is based on the number line of numerology, as described by fundamental, archetypal patterns in nature, discussed in the book "All Things Are Numbers." Other outcomes are possible.

So... if somone out there has a concept of humanity that they don't see anywhere in this deck, and are wondering where in this deck that "concept of humanity" would be found, try going backwards, beyond or beneath the anthropomorphized icons of traditional tarot, to a more fundamental, elemental, abstract concept of nature, and then work back from there, to a more subjective, human-born symbol or icon - as I've done below and throughout this STUDY of tarot (see the essay Dreams and Dreamming elsewhere on this site). But, when contemplating where a "concept of humanity" might belong, don't forget to include that concept's Antonyms, Coronyms and Varonyms! Because that will be the first thing I will ask, after anyone places any concept into this system. What and where is that concept's diametrical opposite? Where is that concept's quantitative or qualitative companion? What and where is that concept's extreme variation ... or inbetween variation?

I am hoping that people will find this logical array of ideas useful. There is no secret handshake required to obtain this wisdom. No rituals of devotion. No costumes of hierarchical order to wear... just common sense observation of logical patterns.

Let's examine the cards in this deck that deal with...

The Tangible : Physical : Actual : Definitive : Objective : Superficial : Practical
Rational : Concrete : Analytical : L-Brain : Literal : Active : Inclusive
Male : Yang : Transient : Crystalline : Quantitative : Particle Nature of Things.
