With the help of ideas and diagrams presented in the essays The Way, and Knowing vs. Psychic Knowing, we suggested a possible map of consciousness that might help explain the nature of Psychic Knowing vs. ordinary Human Knowing. Of course, an assumption is being made that there is a difference in the quality of results that are found between someone exercising ordinary Human Knowing vs. the super-human, paranormal results that come from a True Psychic.
-----
What is a True Psychic?
Good question. I certainly do not know. My various maps of consciousness are an attempt to help me understand the nature of the terrain in question, but what exactly makes someone a True Psychic, as opposed to someone exercising ordinary Human Knowing? Is there even a difference?
Well... I suppose we could say that anyone with a box of paints is an artist. And anyone who can type is a writer. And anyone with a guitar is a rock star. And... anyone with a deck of tarot cards is a psychic. Technically, we could say that... but I wouldn't. Because of those technicalities, we could be generous and call anyone who is trying to be an artist an artist... and the same for the rest. But I agree with those who, in spite of the subjectivity of criteria, demand that such titles be earned through demonstrated expertise and above average excellence before being considered "true" examples of what they aspire to be, or what we long to see them as.
In the case of psychic abilities, the claims put forth by those calling themselves psychics puts the bar of excellence quite high. Which I agree it ought to be. So I would take those claims and judge accordingly against people who achieve them and those who don't. In holding someone to such high standards, we could - again - be generous and agree that any anecdotal achievement is enough to substantiate a claim of psychic ability... but I wouldn't. Again, even though subjective, I would look for above average excellence that is clearly beyond that of anecdotal before I would judge someone psychic. A true psychic is a cut above. A true artist is a cut above. A true anything is a cut above.
Where is that threshold that puts them "a cut above?" I'm happy to let other psychics determine that. If those who consider themselves to be true psychics want to lower the bar to include as many of us as possible, allowing any and all anecdotal testimonials to qualify, then true psychics might very well be a dime a dozen, making psychic ability into nothing all that special. But I get the sense that those who call themselves psychic don't see their ability as ordinary. They may see it as natural, or innate to them, but still extra-ordinary and para-normal when compared to the abilities of the rest of the world who can't do what they seem to do. Some might portray psychic abilities as ordinary to sell books to those wishing to acquire such impressive means of power. But, typically the claims made by psychics deal with abilities that most people consider as far from ordinary as one could imagine... to the point of being inexplicable by any means. It is this "wow" factor that makes the power so seductive, and thereby generates such intense interest. This "wow" factor is also what sets the bar so high and puts those who can actually achieve these claims, with demonstrated expertise and above average excellence, a cut above, making them at least qualify for consideration as a "True Psychic."
Painting techniques can be learned from a book. But an artist is a cut above. Guitar techniques can be learned from a book. But a rock star is a cut above. Techniques for raising our awareness, sensitivity and intuition can be learned from a book. But a psychic is a cut above. And when it comes to criteria for judgment, psychics probably have the highest bar to clear of all - i.e. doing things the majority of minds consider to be impossible. That is a very high bar indeed... unless... we want to lower that bar to include as many anecdotal testimonials of "knowing" as possible. I wouldn't.
This idea of being "a cut above" is perfectly illustrated within our maps of consciousness - especially when viewed as the triangular crown upon the vertically oriented "Way" diagram presented in the essay The Way. As well as when presented 90 degrees counterclockwise in the essay Knowing vs. Psychic Knowing.

Psychic Chakras
In the book All Things Are Numbers, it was suggested that the fundamental parameters of existence, that are theorized to exists around and amid any manifest entity, could be viewed in much the same way as Chakras in our body. Chakras are spiritual energy centers that we are to meditate upon while considering our interconnectedness to the universe and raising our consciousness. In the world of Chakras, there are seven. In the study being presented on this site, there are five. Five "energy centers" that correlate with the four circles and point, upon which every idea being presented on this site depend (see Simplicity Equals Truth and Wave Nodes elsewhere on this site).
Elsewhere, these fundamental parameters are used to describe basic personality types (see Personality Type Analysis elsewhere on this site). Here, we will use them to describe some of the more basic forms of psychic energy. As suggested above, a True Psychic is a cut above. But as suggested in the essay Knowing vs. Psychic Knowing, the accuracy of ordinary Human Knowing could be said to be attributable to exactly how close a normal person's "Knowing" comes to achieving the perfect symmetry of the Divine that would cause them to transcend to something truly Psychic. Thus, whether applied to Human Knowing or Psychic Knowing, the "energy centers" put forth here, as descriptions of fundamental parameters of existence, are useful in describing different types of psychic, or human, "knowing."
Below is a chart showing how the system being presented on this site organizes some of the most basic forms of psychic energy. The theory being that these forms of perception are with us always, whether used psychically or not. Thus, if psychic, we would expect to see psychic potentialities correlating with these fundamental stages of existence. These psychic "energy centers" correlate with the fundamental parameters of existence being put forth everywhere on this site... which means they also correlate with the parts of the body associated with those fundamental parameters of existence... thus allowing us to suggest an answer as to where psychic phenomena comes from... or works through.

Working in from the outside, there is the ClairAudients, who know what they "know" by way of an inner voice that speaks to them. Is it the voice of God, or their own Binary Buddy speaking to them from the other side? (see A Binary Buddy elsewhere on this site). They are the ones who can read minds, and hear the thoughts of others, and send their thoughts to others. Next are the ClairVoyants, who know what they "know" by way of visions that come to them through their Third Eye. They are capable of Remote Vision and other flashes of insight. They are the ones who see Auras of color around people. Next are the ClairSentients, who know what they "know" by way of acute empathy with their environment and the things in it. They can hold an object in their hand and know everything about its owner. Next are what I am calling the ClairVaticients, who know what they "know" by way of the "gut reaction" or "hunch" using instinct and intuition together. They are the true prognosticators, or vaticinators, who sense into the future and past. They are the ones who sense past lives and get premonitions about the future, while the other types are more about what is. The last type is what I am calling the ClairSapients, who manage to have abilities in all areas, and like an alchemist, mix and match them to the best results. Very rare indeed.
Like existing theories being offered on this site about the way numerology can influence our character, many will find that only one of these psychic "energy centers" is dominant. But, just as this study of numerology might enable someone to be more aware of other personality traits and compensate for weaknesses, a complete study of the numerology being offered here might also enable someone to open up other pathways of psychic reception... and transmission. Is it worth a shot? Try using the tools elsewhere on this site to better know a personality, and possibly end up knowing which psychic type to cultivate (see Personality Type Analysis elsewhere on this site).

Signs of Knowing
How does someone know that what they think their perceptions are telling them is correct and reliable information? People claiming to be psychic do get things wrong... sometimes. A lesser degree of fallibility, and higher degree of reliability would certainly qualify someone to be considered more of a True Psychic. But those who are completely, 100% infallible are pretty rare. So what kind of signals would the various psychic types, described above, use, to verify just how well the information they are receiving sits with them, before dispensing their wisdom upon the public?
When contemplating this question years ago, my answer was Goosebumps! Which, I suppose, was revealing me to be more of a ClairSentient type. But it seemed like a good idea at the time, at least as far as looking for tangible, physical feedback as to the correctness of "knowing." It may seem silly, but really, what causes goosebumps? An eerie feeling that something beyond our normal senses is touching us, embracing us, maybe even guiding us spiritually (or as in the case of evil spirits, maybe threatening us). Sometimes a person might get actual goosebumps on their physical skin, sometimes they just get goosebumps on their emotional/spiritual skin. Sometimes it may not be so dramatic as goosebumps, but still there is a "knowing" of something beyond normal senses touching them or connecting with them in some way.
As a test of perceived correctness, goosebumps are good because they are results derived without any deliberate or conscious evaluation. And, as stated, these don't have to be actual goosebumps on physical skin, they can be theoretical, metaphorical goosebumps on a psyche. The point is that this feedback touches us in a significant way, getting through all our rational, scientific, conscious defenses and reaching deep into the core of our being. In that way, it's a lot like falling in love. Who can explain that? A person might tell us all kinds of things that they like about the love of their life: good looks, sparkling personality, common interests. But can they really explain why fireworks go off in their chest every time they think about them? Where do those fireworks come from? They come from that "place" of "knowing." Fireworks, goosebumps, whatever... when it's right, we "know" it.
In the chart below, I propose some suggestions for physical feedback that I think would correlate with the personality types that go with these psychic "energy centers." For those who believe that there is such a thing as "good" and "bad" in this world - relative to the concepts of life-affirming vs. life detracting criteria - each "energy center" can be discussed for how it senses the good or bad of its environment and its contents. In general, life affirming things inflate and liberate the body with feelings of health, while life detracting things deflate or constrict the body with feelings of disease. But as we pass through each Energy Center, we encounter different types of affirming or detracting phenomenon that are specific to the character of each stage of our theoretical model of existence.

If Psychic Energy Centers correlate with human personality types, these are some physical feedback possibilities that might make some sense. For more on Energy Centers consult the essay Wave Nodes elsewhere on this site. |
1/9 The ClairAudient = Because the ClairAudients use hearing in the head, a sensation of light-headedness or rising to lofty heights might correlate with correctness of "knowing." Conversely, if psychically sensing something undesirable, dizziness in the head, or headaches and migraines might accompany the audible signals of evil and chaos. Other physical feedback of the ClairAudients might include ringing in the ears, if sensing something undesirable. Or maybe a voice in the head that knows all, or a voice instructing them to do evil.
2/8 The ClairVoyant = ClairVoyants deal with visions and the eyes, but are also intimately connected to the 2/8 stage of existence known for explosive energy. Because of this association, they would be the ones having fireworks in the chest or a feeling of being inflated or expanded, like an explosion. They would also have feelings of their psyche bubbling up or welling up like a frog in their throat or tears in their eyes. While conversely... in sensing the bad of things, they would be the ones having that deflated or sinking feeling and tightness of chest. In being connected to the energy part of these Psychic Chakras, they might also have changes in breathing, and if sensing something undesirable, might get that flushed feeling, with a chill up the spine - like we get when we think we've seen a ghost! They might also suffer from hysterical blindness, or perhaps a twitch or muscle tick. Or, get a full blown panic attack.
3/7 The ClairSentient = Because the ClairSentients represent the surface, or theoretical "skin" of our theoretical model of existence, they would be the ones getting the aforementioned goosebumps, or if psychically feeling something undesirable, perhaps a rash, dermatitis, itching or inflammation of the skin. In sensing evil they would be the ones having the hairs on the back of their neck standing up. They might also get sweaty palms, muscle pains, sympathetic pains or even stigmata! Because of their association to blood, they would blush at the good and blanch and the bad.
4/6 The ClairVaticient = Finally, because of their association to the core of existence or the substance of our very being, the ClairVaticients would be the ones getting butterflies in the stomach when excited, or nausea and a knot if psychically sensing something undesirable. Either way, they are the one who "go with their gut." The ClairVaticients would also be the ones to claim that "they feel it in their bones"... in either a good or bad way. They would feel strength in their bones and feel invincible - like their bones had been turned into steel, or... they would feel weak in the knees with an Achilles heel and ready to collapse. The bones of the body are like the rocks of the Earth. When the ground is soft and mushy, find a firmer path made of rock.
Does this mean that any and all sensations of goosebumps or chills up the spine are to be taken as evidence of psychic powers within us? I don't know. Could be. But, I would not call anyone a true psychic unless I were to witness something much more than anecdotal episodes of "knowing." But, at the same time, it might be considered something on which to build a better understanding, even if only to make us more intuitive and not necessarily psychic. These reactions are going on inside us anyway, whether we are a True Psychic or not, so using them to judge the correctness or wrongness of a situation as sensed by normal human intuition is as good a way of applying the theoretical parameters of existence explained everywhere on this site as any other. Whether human or super-human, it's all about paying attention.
I remember standing in a used book store handing the owner money for a book. She was playing some Jazz music on the stereo. She decides to ask me "do you like this kind of music, this jazz stuff?" I said to her that I like all kinds of music, including jazz, but that I am not a big fan of the hard core kind of jazz that sounds like five different musicians playing five different tunes on top of each other. I think that people choose music based on sympathetic vibration. And I am happy to say that my mind does not vibrate in such a chaotic way, so that kind of hard core jazz does not appeal to me! But I can still appreciate the chaos it is trying to express. The theory here is that different types of personality vibrations lead to different types of psychic reception or resonance. Thus, I think the goosebump test is reliable, as long as our "Self" resonates a certain way. If the world around us reshapes our "Self" in some serious way, then we may change our current form of psychic reception, the way we might fall out of love with the person who previously put fireworks into our chest.

Psychic Healing
Throughout a good portion of the world, good health care treatment and good health care maintenance is a problem. And while, as stated in the essay The Way, it is not the purpose of this study of tarot to offer a cure for cancer, or even the hope of it, I do believe that some good can come from a heightened awareness of how the fundamental parameters of existence being put forth everywhere on this site can assist in health treatment and/or maintenance.
Lots of people go through life abusing their bodies - either through negligence or unfortunate life situations - and only think about health when it fails them. Most people do not listen to their body when it is telling them what it needs. Then, when it breaks down they go to a doctor in the same way they take their car to a mechanic with the hope that they can fix the effects of all that abuse with a miraculous cure. Other people just fall victim to disease, through no apparent fault of their own. The chart below suggests a few "alternative" methods of health care, and arranges them according to which personality type, or psychic type might be most adept at administering them, or most receptive to receiving them as treatment. Again, our dominant vibratory state might cause one method of treatment to be more effective than another.

The ClairAudient/Cerebral types, because of their connection to the sense of sound and the Mind, might find Hypnosis helpful. The ClairVoyant/Perceptual types, because of their association to sight and the Spirit, might gravitate more to something like Aura Cleansing. The ClairSentient/Sensorial types, because of their association to feeling and touch and the Soul, might be the most receptive to something like the spiritual Laying on of Hands. The ClairVaticient/Visceral types, because of their association to the sense of smell and the Heart or Core of Existence, might find Aromatherapy or even Gastronomy beneficial. The ClairSapient/Elemental types, because of associations to control and manipulation, might prefer Massage or Chiropractic adjustments.
Other methods might include the Remote Viewing Visualization techniques suggested by some ClairVoyants for confronting things like tumors. In addition to the eyes and sight, the 2/8 stage of existence governs the respiratory system, throat and sinuses. So, again, breathing techniques would be important. ClairSentients, on the other hand, being associated with the heart and blood system, might go in for some bloodletting - with or without leaches, or perhaps psychic surgery, as a possible therapy. Exfoliation would also be considered beneficial to a ClairSentient, as would creams and lotions. ClairVaticient, being associated with the Visceral types, might find something like Primal Scream therapy beneficial. ClairVaticient/Visceral types are fighters, so giving them something to punch and beat up will be very therapeutic. ClairAudients, on the other hand, might like some White Noise or sounds of nature to be subliminally heard in the background of their therapy.
In a Spa, the ClairVaticient/Visceral types, being associated with the element of Fire, would probably like a hot steam bath or sauna. The ClairSentient/Sensorial types, being associated with the element of Earth, might like a mud bath. The ClairVoyant/Perceptual types, being associated with the element of Water, might like the whirlpool with all its current and bubbles. The ClairAudient/Cerebral types, being associated with the element of Air, might like... hmm, I don't know... I've never been to a Spa! Maybe some full spectrum light therapy. Finally, a sensory deprivation tank might appeal to the ClairSapient/Elemental types as it eliminates at least three of the other senses and is therefore a sort of alchemistic mixture.

Icons of Tarot
Because we are talking about personality types here, it seems appropriate to look for connections between these types and the icons of tarot. If we look at the ever-popular Rider/Waite/Smith deck, and my own Numerical Tarot, I think we will see many correlations.
In looking for the ClairAudient, the idea of a mindreader is clear in The Magician and Hermit (a 1 and 9). Dizziness in head might be found in the 9 of Swords. In looking for a ClairVoyant, anyone with special vision is a candidate, making The High Priestess a possibility (a 2). While the idea of robust health through respiration is not altogether missing from the card of Strength (an 8). The idea of tightness of chest can be seen in the 8 of Swords. In looking for a ClairSentient The Empress is an obvious example (a 3). There is also a suggestion of sensitivity in the nature of The Chariot (a 7). In the 3 of Swords, we see a distinct lack of sensitivity and trauma to skin. In looking for a ClairVaticient, nausea can be seen in the 6 of Swords. In looking for a ClairSapient, alchemistic mixing is evident in the card of Temperance.
These are a few possibilities. I'll try to think of more later. Correlations are more likely to be found from these idea an The Numerical Tarot than any other, because of how The Numerical Tarot fixes the asymmetrical chaos of tradition (see A Few Minor Changes elsewhere on this site).
